What are Croatia Government Scholarships?

The Ministry of Science and Education, in association with the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes, is contributing Bilateral Scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025. These scholarships are designed for international higher education students, university staff, and researchers to study, teach, or conduct research in Croatia.

Duration of Scholarship and Fields of Study

The scholarships cover the academic year, October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, without July and August. Receivers can study or investigate in any field at credited public Croatian higher education or research institutions.

There are two main application Fields for these Croatian scholarships:

Application Field 1: Bilateral Agreements

This field is for citizens of countries with educational teamwork or a bilateral agreement with Croatia. Priority is given to applicants chosen by their home country’s competent authorities.

Eligible Countries: Belgium (Flanders), Bulgaria, Czech-Republic, China, Germany (Bavaria), Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro, North-Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Türkiye, and Ukraine.

Application Field 2: Croatian Language Students

This field is for overseas students of Croatian language and Slavic Studies, offering semester studies or summer seminars in Croatian language and works.

How Can We Apply for Croatian Government Scholarships?

  1. Check Eligibility: First Check if your country has a bilateral agreement with Croatia or if you’re a student of Croatian language or Slavic Studies.
  2. Submit Online Application: Apply over the Agency’s online application system.
  3. Required Documents: Include a valid passport, CV, recommendation and nomination letters, research proposal, academic transcripts, proof of enrollment, a letter of attention, and proof of language skill in English or Croatian.
