Announcement for 30,000 teaching jobs by the Government of Punjab

The Government of Punjab has taken an important step to address the shortage of teaching staff by announcing the staffing of 30,000 visiting teachers for schools in the first phase.

The School Education Department (SED) in the province is dealing with a shortage of 115,000 teachers. The Government of PML-N announced the last major enrollment of school teachers occurred in 2018.

In the two districts: Murree and Mianwali about 400 to 500 activities had been made by the Government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

The Government of PTI has introduced an appointment process similar to that of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

To fill the posts in the colleges the government of PTI also introduced College Teaching Interns (CTIs) and the current management was also advised to continue this creativity to address the shortage. For college Teaching Intern positions current graduates were eligible to apply for this post, receiving a monthly salary of Rs.25, 000.

On a visiting basis, the current government is considering the appointment of 30,000 school teachers according to the School Education Department. They will be paid based on the number of lectures delivered.

Funds for School

To cover the salary for visiting teachers in the school councils the Govt. plans to distribute extra funds. In addition, for other school expenses, the councils will be responsible for creating funds.

To cover the shortage of teachers in the school, the General Secretary of the PTU, Rana Liaqat, advised the government to begin permanent employment.

According to the General Secretary of PTU, Rana Liaqat, the only possible solution to address the teaching staff shortage is to employ teachers permanently basis. The PTU General Secretary stated his alarms regarding the problems appointment visiting teachers would create for schools.
